Welcome to the Plowman Chamber Music Competition

Plowman Chamber Music Competition is a biennial event, which usually takes place in odd number years.
Due to COVID-19, the Plowman directors have decided to postpone the 10th Plowman Competition which was scheduled to take place March 27-28, 2021 in Columbia, Missouri. We will hold the event when we are in a safer environment for gathering. Announcement of the 10th Plowman Competition will be announced in Fall 2021.
The information to the next competition will be available in the mid-Fall, however is expected to remain mostly similar to the details from the last competition currently posted here. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Co-presented by First Baptist Church in Columbia, Office of the President of the University of Missouri System and the MU School of Music, the Missouri Symphony and Odyssey Chamber Music Series, Plowman Chamber Music Competition & Festival invites students and music lovers nationwide to enjoy and learn from guest artists' master classes and recitals.

With the recent reveal of the Odyssey Chamber Music Series' Season 17, we sincerely regret we are postponing the 10th Plowman Chamber Music Competition to 2022 or 2023. This decision was a difficult one, because we live in a world where technology is fairly advanced enough, we could have considered a virtual competition.
But we believe Plowman Competition & Festival needs to be more than just the ensembles competing for the Grand Prize. It is equally about the mid-Missouri communities benefiting from interacting with you and the brilliant guest artists through master classes and performances, and we did not feel our virtual competition would fulfill our expectations.
We sincerely look forward to hearing your ensembles when it is safe to do so, and I hope you can look forward to another fulfilling competition events when you are able to come back to see us in Columbia, Missouri.
Please take care, and stay in touch.
