How YOU Can Support Plowman Chamber Music Competition

Plowman Chamber Music Competition is one of the best, well-regarded events of its kind, drawing the nation's top chamber ensembles - largely thanks to the international judges as well as Columbia's warm, unparalleled hospitality.

This unique event is collaborated by four local organizations: The First Baptist Church of Columbia, the MU School of Music, the Missouri Symphony and Odyssey Chamber Music Series. Your financial assistance will not only allow Plowman to continue its chamber music competition, but also sustains this special collaboration of these organizations.

Every competition year, there is an added Competition expense which Odyssey Chamber Music Series absorbs, including the 2021 event. We are looking for donors at several levels, especially those who might enjoy sponsoring an award to one of the most promising, young chamber ensembles.

All Plowman award donors will have their name(s) on the prize, and professional photographs will be taken at the Awards Ceremony on March 28, 2021 with the corresponding winning ensembles in the Missouri Theatre. They are also invited to the special Sunday Brunch for the Semi-Finalist ensembles on the day of the Finals Concert, as well as the post-concert Plowman Reception - so that there is an organized, private opportunity to meet and greet the competitors and the judges. In addition, all Odyssey benefits will be provided, listed below.

Perhaps you may be interested in advertising your business in our programs during competition festival? Or perhaps your company or institution might be interested in sponsoring a Plowman concert? Any questions can be addressed by filling out the contact form on this web site.

Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to hearing from you!

Interested volunteers can do one of two things:

2. RSVP "attending" on the volunteer Facebook page, and TBA will contact you via Facebook individually.

Plowman Chamber Music Competition has been so successful in the past because the contestants have always enjoyed their visits to Columbia. 95% of the past contestants have all mentioned in their survey how welcomed they felt as Plowman participants, which is a HUGE compliment coming from musicians most who are already quite anxious about being judged for a competitive national event!

Volunteers have always been the key ingredient to creating a friendly atmosphere for the competition, and with an added Festival performances before and after the competition weekend, we are hopeful that you will be interested in supporting Plowman events in person!
